Offshore wind farm aims to fully supply smelter

ALINTA project development head Kris Lynch, Portland Aluminium smelter manager Ron Jorgensen and senior staff engineer David Rundell discuss the proposed Spinifex Offshore Wind Farm at the smelter’s switchyard on Tuesday. Power from the project would be transmitted directly to the switchyard, which handles 10 per cent of Victoria’s total energy use, where it would be used by the smelter with any surplus fed into the electricity grid.
